The symbol says it all....

To quote a great Canadian ....

"The United States got it right. You finally have a president that can speak in complete sentences."

Let it snow, let it snow.....

I guess I don't have to let it snow. it just is. we had about 5 inches of snow yesterday and then about another three inches over night. I'm so glad I bought a Farmer's Almanac this year. It hasn't been right yet. We went from major below zero cold to snow over the weekend. It was so freaking cold last week. I must admit the mountain across the street is gorgeous. The tree branches are covered with light fluffy snow and the sun is shining on them.

Did any of your watch the inaugural concert yesterday? What an amazing time this is. Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. day and tomorrow this country will swear in our first African American President. At the concert there were old performers, young performers, white performers, black performers, Hispanic performers, gay performers, straight performers, and hundreds of thousands of people watching. And the makeup of the crowds mirrored those on stage. America seems to be coming together. In hope we are together.

I wonder what George and Dick were thinking yesterday -- I'm sure they didn't watch the concert, but I'm sure they were given information about it. I'm guessing they were trying to think of ways to "control" the "mob" and how to take away the right to assemble, and how to put fear in the minds of all there. Trying to figure out how to dash the hopes of those assembled. I'm hopeful they were ashamed by their missed opportunities, afraid of the freedoms they felt the citizens might be reclaiming, and depressed that they can't continue to rob this nation of it's wealth and it's pride and it's dreams. Hopefully all the money Cheney and Haliburton stole from this nation's people was invested with Madoff.

The puppet regime is almost gone. One more day!

Reconnect Day

Facebook is a truly wonderful thing. I started out finding one cousin, which led to finding two second cousins, which then led to finding a third cousin, and some of them are now connecting. Causes me to reflect on how we lost track of each other. I think we're typical of a lot of families -- when the parents die, the next generation just doesn't get together as much. Our generation gets together with our kids, and our spouse's family, and so on and so on. And today we have all been busy commenting on old old family photos posted by someone too young to have known half of the people. Our family (my dad's side) were a wild bunch. They put the "fun" in dysfunctional. And I miss them so much. And the reconnection has been bittersweet -- finding out how many of our generation have gone. It has been an amazing day.

backwards day

don't know why, but I have mixed up websites, phone numbers, blog names, you name it today. I have moved into some backward universe. Hopefully this will pass -- maybe.

Dave Hingsburger's blog is: davehingsburger.blogspot.com. The name of his blog is Chewing the Fat. I tried to email someone my blog address and screwed up three different times, three different ways.

If this is a parallel universe, I want out.

Valentine's Day

As some of you know I work with an agency that provides services to those with developmental challenges. A lot of my work is now about teaching folks that they are adults and are entitled to adult relationships (and yes, that includes SEX). The pioneer and guru of sexuality for persons with disabilities is Dave Hingsburger. His blog can be found at: chewingthefat.blogspot.com. Please check out what he has written about an activity we all need to be part of for Valentine's Day. Sign on, make a comment, if you have a blog please post on that day. Let's get down and dirty.

lack of discipline

OK, so I have no discipline. I had great intentions of writing something, even if it's a one liner, everyday. You can see how well that has worked out. Lack of discipline, if I were going to list my faults, would be right up there at the top of the list. My intentions are good, I'm all gung-ho, and then something distracts me, my recliner calls to me, the dogs do something cute and force me to sit for hours contemplating their new trick, the weather needs to be watched, the mountain across the street might be moving, anything and everything can distract me. Is it lack of discipline or is it my inability to focus (that's cool, maybe I have a.d.d. --that gives me a medical excuse) or is it laziness? Need some help here. Any ideas out there?
